Airborne Wind Europe, the European association for airborne wind energy, is exhibiting for the third time at WindEnergy Hamburg this year – the world’s leading trade fair for the onshore and offshore wind industry. From 24 to 27 September, more than 1,400 exhibitors and around 30,000 visitors from 100 countries will meet at the Hamburg Exhibition Centre. Take the opportunity to get to know airborne wind energy and the start-ups behind it and make an appointment with us in Hall B7, Stand 425.
Brussels / Berlin, 17 September 2024
The association Airborne Wind Europe represents the manufacturers and research institutes of innovative airborne wind energy systems in Europe. These use kites, wings or drones to generate electricity from wind at high altitudes, where the winds are stronger and more constant. As part of the Solar Package I, airborne wind energy was included in the German Renewable Energy Act (EEG) at the end of April 2024. This strong political signal emphasises the high potential of airborne wind energy (AWE) and creates the framework conditions for a rapid and widespread expansion of the technology.
Mark Hoppe, Board Member of Airborne Wind Europe and Head of Public Affairs and Business Development of SkySails Power: »At WindEnergy Hamburg 2024, Airborne Wind Europe offers press representatives the opportunity to meet all association members in one place and immerse themselves in their innovative solutions.
Here you will have the opportunity to engage with industry experts and learn more about the latest advances in FWE technology, such as the first externally verified power curve, and how FWE can revolutionise and complement the renewable energy sector.«
Florian Breipohl and Nicole Allgaier, Board Member of Airborne Wind Europe and CEO/CTO of EnerKíte, emphasise that the trade fair offers a very special opportunity to get to know each other personally and to exchange about exciting projects with potential pilot customers, new cooperation initiatives as well as technology maturity, approval practice and market entry.
Kristian Petrick, Secretary General of Airborne Wind Europe on the live programme: »Leading representatives of the AWE sector will present the latest trends, challenges and potentials of the airborne wind technology in daily presentations. The Airborne Wind Europe Speakers Corner offers a novel opportunity to learn and gain insights into how AWE can concretely contribute to the global energy transition. You can also experience a real 40m² kite from the Dutch company Kitepower. Our members Enerkite (Hall A3, Stand 672) and SkySails Power (Hall B6, Stand 205) will also be represented with exclusive stands at WindEnergy Hamburg and look forward to your visit.«
Airborne wind energy is the missing piece of the puzzle for the success of the energy transition – in terms of grid stability, optimal resource utilisation and independent and resilient energy supply, among other things. Participation in WindEnergy Hamburg 2024 underlines the commitment of Airborne Wind Europe’s members to establish AWE as a key component of the global energy transition. Another goal is to attract industry partners and investors in order to jointly provide impetus for the European economy in the future.
Find out more about our members and projects in advance on our website and make an appointment with us now in Hall B7/ Stand 425, or EnerKíte (Hall A3, Stand 672) and SkySails Power (Hall B6, Stand 205) to discuss the prospects for airborne wind energy, listen to in-depth technical presentations and, last but not least, experience a real energy kite.
About Airborne Wind Europe
Airborne Wind Europe was founded in 2018 as an association of the European airborne wind energy sector with the aim of creating a political and regulatory framework for airborne wind energy in the EU and all member states. The association represents all European manufacturers of airborne wind energy systems, including the companies SkySails Power, EnerKíte, Kitepower, Kitemill and others. In addition, more than 50 institutions along the supply chain are active worldwide, including the universities TU Delft, Politecnico Milano, University of Porto and many more, as well as project developers and energy suppliers such as EWE, EnBW, e.disnatur and RWE.
