For several years, Airborne Wind Europe has facilitated the IEA’s work to increase knowledge and understanding of the utilization of altitude wind power.
Reliable, clean and affordable
The International Energy Agency (IEA) works to ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy for both member countries and nations around the world. At present, there are 29 member countries participating in the IEA; There are also six countries with association status and two countries that are candidates for accession to the IEA. The International Energy Agency (IEA) was formed in 1974 as an autonomous body of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
We have increased our focus on new wind concepts
The IEA wants to promote and share knowledge about new wind concepts. The ultimate goal of the TEM # 102 Airborn Wind Energy conference is to identify research challenges and opportunities to advance a proposal for a larger scope of a new IEA wind mission on airborne wind power.
Altitude wind power come to stay
It is good that the IEA is focusing on airborne wind energy. It is a sign of many, that what we are moving in the right direction. To elaborate, this initiative is backed not only by IEA and Airborne Wind Europe but also NREL amongst a few others, NREL is The National Renewable Energy Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy.
Technological breakthrough
Arborne Wind Energy has an enormous potential to be able to supplement the existing wind turbine industry, so that electric power produced by a clean, renewable resource, such as wind, will increase significantly.
