Ireland’s test site: Driving innovation in renewable energy
In 2023, a state-of-the-art test site dedicated to AWE was established in Bangor Erris, Co. Mayo, through a collaboration between RWE and Kitepower. This facility provides an exceptional platform for testing and refining AWE technology. As part of the DEM-AWE project, funded by Interreg North-West Europe, Kitepower is currently demonstrating its K-BESS solution, a groundbreaking battery energy storage system powered by a kite. This project is a testament to Ireland’s commitment to fostering innovation and positioning itself as a leader in renewable energy.
