On 21 April, Madrid will host a public exhibition showcasing an airborne wind energy kite from our member Kitepower.
The exhibition will take place at the entrance of IFEMA, next to the “Feria de Madrid” metro station, coinciding with the WindEurope Annual Event and bringing airborne wind energy directly into one of Europe’s key gatherings for the wind sector.

At the centre of the exhibition will be a large-scale Kitepower kite designed to generate electricity by harnessing stronger and more consistent winds at higher altitudes.
The kite has already been showcased on previous occasions, including at AWEC 2024 and in Brussels, in front of the European Parliament, helping to raise awareness of airborne wind energy among policymakers and the wider public.
Workshop & roundtable
In addition to the exhibition, the same day, there will be a workshop as part of the WindEurope Annual Event programme, organised in the framework of the Horizon Europe projects FLOW, MERIDIONAL and AIRE.
The next day, on 22 April at 16:00, an airborne wind energy roundtable will take place during the WindEurope Annual Event, bringing together stakeholders from across the sector to discuss the latest developments, challenges, and opportunities for AWE in Europe.
By presenting a real system in a highly visible urban setting during WindEurope’s flagship event, the exhibition aims to raise awareness of the progress made by the sector and its growing role in Europe’s energy transition.
Airborne Wind Europe continues to support the development and visibility of AWE technologies, working with its members and partners to advance innovation, foster collaboration, and engage with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and the wider public.
More details about the exhibition will be shared in the coming weeks.
