Members of Airborne Wind Europe have recently held a series of meetings with Spanish national and regional authorities to present the potential of airborne wind energy and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Universidad Carlos III de Madrid held meetings with the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. These included an exchange with Dña. Mª Ángeles Ferre González, Deputy Director for Thematic Programmes at the State Research Agency, as well as a dedicated meeting with the team of D. Ignacio García Fenoll, Deputy Director General for Innovation Policy.
During these meetings, UC3M presented the latest advancements in airborne wind energy, highlighting its role in driving innovation and supporting the development of next-generation renewable energy solutions in Spain. The discussions also focused on the broader potential of airborne wind energy to contribute to Spain’s and Europe’s energy transition, particularly in terms of scalability, cost reduction, and access to new wind resources.
In parallel, CT Ingenieros engaged with representatives from the Xunta de Galicia, contributing to ongoing discussions on innovation and regional development linked to emerging renewable technologies.
These engagements reflect the growing interest of public institutions in innovative renewable technologies and mark an important step in strengthening the dialogue between the airborne wind energy sector and policymakers.
As part of Airborne Wind Europe’s network, both CT Ingenieros and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid continue to play a key role in fostering innovation and promoting the integration of airborne wind energy within the Spanish energy landscape.
