The Airborne Wind Energy sector reached a new and exciting milestone this week as Wind Fisher unveiled its new MAG15 demonstrator at the Transpolis testing site.
The event gathered around 50 participants, including representatives from industry, local authorities, and the research community. Kristian Petrick, Secretary General of Airborne Wind Europe, was among the attendees and also delivered a short presentation on the latest developments within the AWE sector in Europe.
A successful event at Transpolis
The Wind Fisher team hosted an impressive and well-organized event. Speeches were given by the Mayor and Philippe Lemoine, CEO of Transpolis, who both joined Garrett Smith and Stéphane Vidaillet for the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official presentation of the MAG15 system.

The Transpolis site provides an ideal environment for AWE system development. It enables not only testing and demonstration but also the direct connection of generated electricity to the site’s power grid, representing a major step toward real-world validation of the technology.
Engaging discussions and future collaboration
During the event, Kristian Petrick had insightful discussions with key stakeholders, including:
- Raphaël de Rocca-Serra on emerging AWE markets
- Philippe Kavafyan on the potential of floating AWE systems
- Thierry Lhommeau from the regional Civil Aviation Authority on airspace regulation in France.
These exchanges highlight the growing momentum around AWE in France and across Europe, and the importance of continued dialogue among innovators, policymakers, and regulators to ensure the sector’s sustainable growth.
Looking ahead
With the MAG15 demonstrator now presented, the next steps will focus on test flights and performance validation. This marks an essential milestone toward the scalable deployment of Airborne Wind Energy in real-world conditions.
Airborne Wind Europe warmly congratulates the Wind Fisher team on this achievement and looks forward to following their progress in the months ahead.
